School Program Registration

Welcome to the National Building Museum's automated school program scheduling system. This system will enable you to schedule and receive instantaneous confirmation (online and then in an email) for program reservations. Programs fill up quickly, and we recommend reserving as far in advance as possible.

Please keep in mind the following when making your reservation:

  • Please review detailed program descriptions before registering.
  • Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance of the program date.
  • Programs will be held for the 2009-2010 school year from October 1, 2009-June 11, 2010, except federal holidays.
  • Programs are available Monday-Friday at 10:00 or 10:30 am and at 12:30 pm, and are either 1½ or 2 hours in length. The Lifecycle program is available on Thursdays from 11:00 am-2:00 pm during October, November, March, April, May, and June only.
  • Each program can accommodate up to 25 or 30 students. The Patterns program and the Drawing on History tour can accommodate only up to 25 students. The Geodesic Dome and Be a Green Builder programs require at least 15 students.
  • One chaperone is required for every 5 children in grades PreK-3 and 1 chaperone is required for every 10 children in grades 4-9. Regardless of the number of students, the Patterns program and the Drawing on History tour require 3 chaperones minimum per program and all other programs require 4 chaperones per program.
  • Unless otherwise indicated, programs do not include a tour of the Museum's exhibitions or the Museum building. We encourage you to spend time before or after your program touring the Museum. This self-touring option does not require reservations.
  • If your school is a Title I school or a DC public or public charter school, your school is eligible for free programs. Please register here, and you will receive instructions on how to receive your free programs at the end of the registration process.

Please select the program you would like to reserve from the list below. You can select multiple times and dates. If you would like to book more than one school program (for example, City by Design and Patterns), that option will be available to you later in the booking process.
